#SUPPORT195 + #CLIMATESOLUTIONSCAUCUS
From September to December 2017, we created a robust screening campaign to a) encourage Republicans in the House of Representatives to join the Bi-Partisan Climate Solutions Caucus b) garner support for H.Res 195, “Expressing the commitment of the House of Representatives to conservative environmental stewardship” and c) reach out to Republicans who supported both, thank them, and encourage them to speak out and bring other Republicans into the fold. HRes195, also known as the ‘Stefanik Resolution‘, calls on the House of Representatives to commit to working on economically viable solutions that address the risks of climate change. The resolution cites the Pentagon’s 2014 Quadrennial Defense Review assessment on the national security implications of climate change that states that the effects of a changing climate are “‘threat multipliers that will aggravate stressors abroad such as poverty, environmental degradation, political instability, and social tensions.’’
Led by Director of Outreach Sophie Robinson and Picture Motion, our key partner was The Citizen’s Climate Lobby (CCL). CCL saw a jump in the Bi-Partisan Climate Caucus from 21 to 30 Republican members during the campaign. The campaign was made possible through generous support from the Goldman Sonnenfeldt Foundation and tireless work and consulting from the Center for Climate and Security.
You can continue to book and host screenings in your area and reach out to your Representatives by visiting the film’s TUGG page here.
Spearheaded by Director of Outreach Sophie Robinson – and in collaboration with impact producers Tatiana McPartland & Mia Bruno – THE AGE OF CONSEQUENCES worked with dozens of organizations around furthering bi-partisan dialogue of climate change as a national security issue. In addition to partnering with high level security groups for screenings, THE AGE OF CONSEQUENCES also has a #CLEANJOBS4VETS campaign, which enhanced the work of five organizations in their effort to create more renewable energy jobs for our veterans. Below are several easy ways you can still get involved in the #CLEANJOBS4VETS campaign.
